Transit & Fleet Brakes

Transit & Fleet Brakes

Brakes that stay in service far longer — and buses that stay on the road.

Treated drums, rotors, and shoes last dramatically longer and resist heat cracking, so your fleet spends less on brake jobs and less time in the shop.

The Value

Fewer brake jobs, fewer buses in the shop

Brake wear is one of the largest recurring maintenance costs in a transit fleet — parts, labor, and the downtime of a bus that’s off the road. Thermal Cycling extends the service life of the drums, rotors, and shoes you already run, so replacement intervals stretch, unscheduled failures drop, and your shop reclaims hours it used to spend on brakes.

It’s applied to your existing parts and changes nothing about their size, fit, or specification — no requalification, no change to how your team installs them, just more life out of every set.

Benefits at a Glance

What treated brakes deliver

  • Roughly 3× longer drum life in documented fleet service
  • Rotors that resist the heat cracking that scraps parts early
  • Longer intervals between brake jobs — lower parts and labor cost
  • More buses in service, fewer pulled off the road for brakes
  • OEM-validated: no loss of performance, warranty stays intact
  • Applied to the parts you already spec — no requalification
Proven Results

What fleets have actually measured

~3× longer drum life (Manatee County, FL)

In a controlled, multi-year fleet study, untreated heavy transit-bus drums were replaced at roughly 34,800 miles; treated drums lasted about 90,000 miles — close to three times the life. Treated rotors showed no heat cracks.

No performance loss, warranty intact (Webb Severe Duty)

Webb Wheel Products (a Marmon / Berkshire Hathaway company) ran an independent battery of tests — metallography, X-ray diffraction, SAE J661, FMVSS-121 dynamometer, and field testing — and found no performance degradation versus standard gray-iron parts, so treatment does not void their lifetime workmanship warranty.

Whole fleet converted (Sarasota County Schools)

After testing treated drums and shoes and reporting much longer life, the district converted its entire bus fleet to treated brakes.
